Graybeard

How Graybeard turns your documentation into cited answers.

Your product documentation already holds the answer to almost every question a technician asks. The problem is reaching it: the answer is on page 47 of a 200-page install manual, behind a dealer login, inside a wiring diagram nobody can search. Graybeard reads that documentation the way your best technician would, answers questions from it, and shows exactly where each answer came from.

Your knowledge base, in whatever form it is in.

You bring the documentation you already have. Graybeard builds it into a structured, searchable knowledge base. Text, tables, and diagrams all come across; diagrams are read visually, so the detail in a pinout or a mounting drawing is searchable alongside the words. This is a service, not a self-serve upload: your team hands over the source material, and Graybeard’s team does the work. When your documentation changes, the knowledge base is refreshed by re-running that build.

Product documentation becoming a searchable knowledge base that returns cited answers pointing to the exact source page.

Every answer carries its source.

Graybeard reads the question, searches your knowledge base for the passages that answer it, and ranks them so the closest match comes first. The clickable citation on every answer, the document, page, section, and deep link to the exact PDF page, is built from the passage Graybeard retrieved, not written by the model afterward. Because it comes from the real retrieved source, it cannot point at a page that does not exist. If a source file is missing, the link steps back gracefully instead of inventing one.

How Graybeard decides what to answer.

It classifies each question first (which device, which kind of problem, whether a diagram is needed), searches only your content, ranks the results, and checks its confidence before answering. When a question is ambiguous or a model number does not match anything known, it asks a clarifying question or answers only about the products it can confirm, rather than guessing. The prompts behind each domain are held to an internal evaluation suite, so a change does not ship without passing it.

Security and isolation.

Your content lives in a search space dedicated to your account, with no path for another customer’s queries to reach it. Access is locked to each user’s own records, and account configuration is controlled on the server. API keys are bound to your account and stored only as a hash; a client cannot widen its own access. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit through Google Cloud, secrets are held in a manager, and the build pipeline scans for exposed credentials. Graybeard does not yet hold formal certifications such as SOC 2, and says so plainly rather than imply a badge it has not earned.

Putting Graybeard on your site.

Two paths, both provisioned per account by the Graybeard team: a hosted window you embed on your own site, and a direct API for partners who call Graybeard from their own application.

Integrations.

Two paths are live today, the hosted embed and the API. Connectors to Zendesk, Salesforce Knowledge, Freshdesk, HubSpot, Confluence, and custom systems are on the roadmap, not available yet; this page lists each one as it ships.
